AIEI Legal Committee Holds Initial Meeting to Promote Global AI Integrity

The AI Ethics and Integrity International Association (AIEI) is pleased to announce an important step: the meeting of Legal Committee. This important milestone brought together representatives from 17 countries and more than 30 participants, united by the shared commitment to advancing responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence on a global scale.

A Collective Step Toward Responsible AI

Artificial intelligence is reshaping societies, economies, and governance systems at a rapid pace. Yet, its transformative power also raises urgent questions around law, regulation, and accountability. The establishment of the AIEI Legal Committee shows the recognition that legal frameworks are essential to guide AI development in a way that safeguards human rights, fosters innovation, and builds public trust.

Bringing together lawyers, legal scholars, policymakers, and practitioners from diverse jurisdictions, the Committee provides a platform where expertise converges to shape the future of AI regulation and ethical governance.

Key Priorities Defined

At this first meeting, participants shared perspectives on pressing legal challenges posed by AI and agreed on the Committee’s immediate priorities. In the weeks ahead, the Committee will finalize the appointment of its Board and establish a pipeline of activities designed to strengthen the role of law in AI governance. These will include:

Reviewing and updating AIEI’s principles on responsible AI use, ensuring they remain relevant and actionable in light of new technological and regulatory developments.
Providing legal recommendations and monitoring national legislation, helping members stay informed about emerging rules and compliance obligations across different regions.
Organizing events, workshops, and contributing to AI rankings, fostering international dialogue and creating opportunities for knowledge exchange.
Supporting lawyers in navigating AI within their practice, offering guidance on the integration of AI tools while respecting ethical and legal standards.

A Platform for Global Collaboration

The success of this initial gathering highlights the need for international cooperation in addressing the challenges of AI. While national approaches to AI regulation vary, the cross-border nature of technology requires solutions that are informed by dialogue and collaboration. AIEI’s Legal Committee aims to serve as a platform for such engagement, connecting experts and practitioners who are committed to building a responsible AI ecosystem.

This first meeting set a solid foundation for the Committee’s work. In the coming weeks, members will move forward with appointing the Board and outlining a concrete agenda.
