Board Elected for AIEI Legal Committee: Steering Responsible AI Forward
AIEI is proud to announce the election of the Board of its new Legal Committee, marking a major step in strengthening the organization’s commitment to ethical and responsible AI practices. The Committee was officially formed on 2 December, in accordance with the Regulation of the Committees and the Legal Committee Mandate.
AIEI President Serhii Barbashyn emphasized the importance of this development:
“We greatly appreciate that legal professionals recognize the importance of standing at the forefront of ethical and responsible AI use and development. Their engagement is crucial for building trust and clarity in this evolving field. The Legal Committee will assist in understanding regulatory pathways, interpreting legal standards, and preparing proper guidance. At the same time, it will work to support the legal sector in addressing the complex challenges that AI brings to the profession as well.”
The Committee’s composition has been appointed as follows:
- Chair of the AIEI legal committee – Taras Lytovchenko
- Deputy Chair of the AIEI legal committee – Roba Hamam
- Deputy Chair of the AIEI legal committee – Edvinas Meskys
The Legal Comittee members of the AIEI Legal Committee include: Vitor Neves, Oleksii Shamov, Janis Wong, Roman Zavrsek, Andriy Barbashyn, Alexandr Chernykh, Nélitié Zingoua Kouadio, Olha Osinska, Hanna Bondarenko and Amisha Mittal.
Also, among the associated participants are the following persons: Hysmir Idrizi, Melike Aslan, Alexandru-Mihai Alexandrescu, Nazik Ecem Coşkun, Gökçenur Bilgin, Kateryna Kernoz, Jae-Seong Lee, Agwu Naomi Nneoma.
This experienced team ensures that the Committee’s work will be strategic, actionable, and aligned with the evolving AI landscape.


We would like to remind that the work of the Committee will be structured around the following key areas:
- Publishing the AIEI Declarative AI Principles 2.0 – an updated framework for responsible AI that reflects the latest technological and regulatory developments.
- Legal guidance and monitoring legislation – keeping members informed of emerging rules and compliance requirements across regions.
- Organizing events and workshops – fostering international dialogue, knowledge exchange, and contributing to AI rankings.
- Supporting lawyers and organizations in AI Practices – offering guidance on integrating AI tools ethically and legally into professional practice.
